Air Pollution:
"Air pollution is one of the world's leading risk factors for death, attributed to 5 million deaths each year. Air pollution is attributed to 9% of deaths globally."
"Air pollution is not merely a nuisance and a threat to health. It is a reminder that our most celebrated technological achievements-the automobile, the jet plane, the power plant, industry in general, and indeed the modern city itself-are, in the environment, failures." ~ Barry Commoner
Air pollution is a topic majority of us, whether youths, adolescents or adults are well aware of and it is a pleasure to say that actions are actively being taken in order to combat this issue.
Presently the air we inhale contains car emissions, chemicals from factories, nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon.
It is estimated by the WHO that air pollution kills an estimated (1) seven million people worldwide every year.
(1)"WHO data shows that 9 out of 10 people breathe air that exceeds WHO guideline limits containing high levels of pollutants, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures."
Efforts are being taken to combat air pollution and we should continue to strive towards a greener, free pollution atmosphere and it has come to the point where taking actions if not a choice, is a necessity.
