Humanitarian Aid

 Humanitarian aid:

"Human trafficking is a communitywide problem, and as such, it requires communitywide solutions." -Jacky Rosen

"Over 1 billion people are now living in countries affected by long-term humanitarian crises and the number of countries experiencing protracted crises has more than doubled over the last 15 years, from 13 to 31."

Humanitarian aid or assistance is defined as (1)“ material and logistic assistance to people who need help and among the people in need are the homeless, refugees, and victims of natural disasters, wars, and famines.”

The number of victims that require humanitarian assistance is steadily rising whether due to armed conflict or extreme climate events.

Widespread hunger, displacement, death, and destruction are just a few in the constantly growing list of issues that require aid.

Similarly increased vulnerability due to climate change, unsanitary living conditions, minimal hygiene, lack of sufficient water and sanitation has put a strain on the materials and funds required to provide global humanitarian assistance.

According to GHO (global humanitarian overview) (2)“In 2021, 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection.”

It is also stated that “this number has risen to 1 in 33 people worldwide from 1 in 45” since the launch of the GHO 2020.

The need for humanitarian aid is steadily rising, and our aim should be to limit the need for humanitarian assistance.

This creates tremendous opportunities and tremendous challenges." -Pat Conroy " There were 703 million people aged 65 years or over in the world in 2019 and the number of older people is projected to double to 1.5 billion in 2050." Ageing population refers to the change in the age composition of a population such that there is an increase in the proportion of older people.  The average or median age or of the citizens of a country increases due to a longer life expectancy of its citizens of a lower birth rate per year. The provision of healthcare, as well as the improvement in it due to advancements in technology, have lead to a longer life expectancy, leading to a rising ageing population. The increase in the aged population does provide some economic advantages.  Due to older people having higher accumulated savings than younger individuals, a large ageing population can result ...
